NUCHAR WVB 30 - INGEVITY is a low-density, high-activity granular activated carbon with a high surface area. It is specifically manufactured for use in potable water treatment systems using gravity filters, where the granular carbon replaces existing filter media. It has been proven to have a long filter life for taste and odor control and for removing synthetic organics such as atrazine. Wood-based Nuchar WV-B 30’s high porosity and low density allow the use of significantly fewer pounds of WV-B 30 to fill a filter than other types of carbon with higher density. WV-B 30 provides effective filtration for turbidity reduction and has proven particle durability in transferring, backwashing, and air scouring. Cost efficiencies are typically realized through reduced backwash water requirements and low head loss development due to the low density and uniform particle size distribution. By reducing TOC, WV-B 30 helps remove precursors that can lead to disinfection by-products. WV-B 30 meets ANSI/AWWA B 604-05 standards and is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61. WV-B 30 is also used in liquid applications to decolorize process liquids and food ingredients. It is highly efficient for the purification of gases and vapors as well. WV-B 30 meets the food-grade quality standards for activated carbon as defined in the most recent edition of the Food Chemicals Codex.
